Sydney Harbour Week


The Sydney Harbour Week falls in the month of March and this is a week and maybe a couple of days more of celebrating the Sydney Harbour. For about of a week to ten days, the Sydneysiders as well as the visitors throw themselves into the exhilaration of experiencing the natural beauty of the Harbour and the surrounding regions, the pleasant hues of the days and the heady lights of the nights, the colourful festivities, and the exciting range of adventurous feats organized for the visitors throughout the Sydney Harbour Week. All these thrills together make the Sydney Harbour Week one of the most looked forward to and one of the most memorable events in the Sydney Harbour. Visitors and Sydneysiders throng this area year after year in increasing multitudes making this one of the major happenings in Sydney.

Swimming, snorkelling and diving are some of the adventures offered during the Sydney Harbour Week not to mention exploring the different bays and cruising around the Harbour.

Christmas


The time around Christmas is always a period of celebration in the Sydney Harbour. The fireworks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge on New Year's Eve illuminating the bridge as well as lighting up the skies of Sydney ushering in a new and exciting year is one of the most applauded, one of the most publicized and one of the most well-known events in the world. This is an event covered by all media all over the world every year.

Various cruise operators have their own agenda of music, wining, dining, and dancing throughout the night cruising around the Harbour so that their guests can view from different spots of the Harbour the Sydney Harbour Bridge illumined with the spectacular fireworks in all its glory. People gather in boats and watch the amazing view from the different coves, inlets and bays of the harbour.

Yacht Race


The Sydney to Hobart blue water yacht race is the premier yacht racing event of Australia. This has been drawing attention from the different corners of the world so much so that over the past 60 years and more, the Sydney to Hobart blue water yacht race has remained a bright spot on Australia's tourist calendar.

On Boxing Day, yachts small and big ranging from 30- to 90-footers participate in the race and they are sailed by crews comprising of expert professionals and the not so ones. On Boxing Day, the Sydney Harbour comes alive with visitors swarming in to watch the spectacular sight of the beautiful yachts vying with each other on the sparkling waters of the Harbour.

Australia Day


On January 26 is Australia Day when Australians celebrate their achievements and their pride in being the people of this continent. They remember their long years of struggle since they established themselves in colonies on the shores of the Sydney Cove in 1788 evolving into being one of the world's most flourishing and illustrious group of people. Every year several events and cruises are organized around the Sydney Harbour on this day.
