Powerhouse Museum

Powerhouse Museum in Darling Harbour, Sydney, is Australia's largest, most popular and most visited museum, an extraordinary showcase of Australia's unique history and cultural diversity. The Museum was opened to public in 1988 and is considered a New South Wales government cultural institution. The Powerhouse Museum incorporates the Powerhouse Discovery Centre and Sydney Observatory, and is a part of the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. The design of the building is significant in that it was built from the shell of an old power station in Harris Street, Ultimo, Sydney.

The Powerhouse Museum gathers material and information, organizes performances, presents exhibitions, screens movies, stages virtuality-reality 3D theatres and arranges lectures and educational programmes exploring science, culture, history, human creativity, innovations and such, engaging, informing, educating, and inspiring audiences who visit from inside and outside New South Wales.
