Cahill Express Way

The Cahill Expressway was the first freeway to be constructed in Sydney, Australia. It was opened in the 1950s. Starting from the Eastern Distributor and Cross City Tunnel in Woolloomooloo, it crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge to North Sydney where it is linked to the Warringah Freeway. In between, it runs through the Royal Botanical Gardens, The Domain and Circular Quay. Named after Joseph Cahill, the then NSW premier, the Cahill Expressway constitutes an essential segment of the Sydney road system.
