Easter Show

The Sydney Royal Easter Show, more popularly known as The Show is a fair conducted annually in Sydney, Australia, around the time of Easter over a period of two weeks. This is the locus where the urban or the city encounters the rural or the country.

The Royal Easter Show is held under the initiative of the Royal Agricultural Society of New South Wales. In the past, the Show used to be held over a period of two weeks beginning the Friday of the week before Easter and ending on the Thursday after Easter. It used to be held at Moore Park which later became the Fox Studios and is presently Entertainment Quarter. Since 2007, the Sydney Royal Easter Show begins on the Thursday before Easter (Maundy Thursday) and carries on for two weeks through the holidays. The Show is now being held at the Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush Bay.

The Sydney Royal Easter Show is a confluence of the country and the city where the rural meets the urban. The Show involves agricultural displays, horticultural exhibitions, dog shows, and cat shows. The Show also features stage shows, cookery demonstrations and skill-game contests. The Show also conducts a fair comprising products and competitions involving arts, crafts, etc.
